(Image credit: Tom's Hardware) RAM stands for random access memory. Non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM) keeps its data without using power, which is more expensive but works slower, so it is used in smaller amounts. RAM is a common hardware component found in electronic devices, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
Since the late 20th century, RAM uses transistors, usually MOSFETs , to store data.
This is where a PC stores data before it’s processed. In computers, RAM may be installed as memory modules , such as DIMMs or (SO-DIMMs sodimm).
